Following the announcement that Lake Nona would be getting a new vertiport for flying cars (“vertiport” means vertical airport), the City of Orlando is leaning into the idea of the region becoming a backbone for future transportation techs by creating a new Advanced Air Mobility Transportation Plan.

The City kicked off the planning process on Friday, September 24 with VHB and NASA and a network of transportation agencies, local governments, and private stakeholders to discuss regional transportation and environmental challenges and opportunities in Central Florida.

The planning process will continue over the next few months with community workshops to evaluate anticipated transportation and regional impacts that could come with the proliferation of air taxi vertiports in Orlando.
