The 2022 Special Olympics USA Games (Website) will be held in Orlando from June 5-12, 2022, with the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games Law Enforcement Torch Run arriving in Orlando this Thursday, June 2, at 4:30 p.m.

The torch run started in Chicago and traveled through the Midwest and East coast as it makes its way eventually to Orlando, where it will be used to light the “Flame of Hope” in a custom-made cauldron and officially launch the games at the opening ceremonies on Sunday, June 5 at Exploria Stadium.

The games are expected to feature roughly 5,500 athletes, coaches, and officials from across the country as well as 15 additional countries from North and South America competing in 19 Olympic-style events including athletics, basketball, bocce, bowling, cheerleading, equestrian, flag football, golf, gymnastics, open water swimming, powerlifting, soccer, softball, stand-up paddleboard, surfing, swimming, tennis, triathlon, and volleyball. An additional 125,000 spectators are expected to come to Orlando during the games as well.

Organizers claim that the event could have an economic impact of upwards to $61 million.
