Main Street Market (Instagram | Website), a vegan food hall and market in Winter Garden is moving to Orlando’s Milk District.

The crew has taken over the former Market on South at 2603 E. South Street [GMap], the original home of both  Dixie Dharma and Valhalla Bakery, both of which have recently moved into Fort Pitt on Old Cheney Highway.

Main Street Market ran afoul with Winter Garden officials and residents when it hosted a series of drag bingo and burlesque events earlier in the year. Following pushback from the City of Winter Garden for hosting events in his space without a special Business Tax Receipt from City Hall, market owner Brandon Wood has since claimed that the city is discriminating against him and he chose to relocate to Orlando.

Wood launched a GoFundMe last month to help offset the cost of moving out of Winter Garden., with a target of $10,000.

“Many of you have asked us how you can help and how we can fight together but in the end the best thing for us to do is move to an amazing location where the store can thrive and grow all the while giving back to the community in creating that all inclusive safe space! With that said, we are so excited for this next chapter and more importantly the growth of our business. So with this go fund me we are looking to help pay for our moving expenses out of our current location. We do hope the same targeting and discrimination will never happen to another business entering the winter garden area! I will be sad to leave my home-town and the community that welcomed us. We hope that you will think about donating to the move because every little bit helps.”

The new space will be home to vegan food businesses The Kind Cleaver (Instagram), Vegan Scoops (Instagram), and Retro Roast (Instagram).

The new Main House Market is expected to soft-open on Thursday, June 8.
