9/21 UPDATE: The City of Orlando has LIFTED the Lake Alert for Lake Ivanhoe.

The City of Orlando’s Streets and Stormwater Division has issued a Lake Alert for Lake Ivanhoe.

The alert was issued in response to an incident that took place on September 19, when a city contractor was performing a repair on a piece of the city’s sanitary system. During the work, a hose cracked, and resulted in the release of approximately 50 gallons of sanitary waste to enter Lake Ivanhoe.

The City will be monitoring the water in case of any possible elevations in E. coli counts or other bacteria. During this time, people should refrain from any water contact activities, including irrigation.

Thankfully it took place a few days after the recent Red Bull BC One wakeboarding event.
