We told you HERE in September 2023 that the XFL and USFL had announced their intention to merge, pending regulatory approvals.

That merger was successful and the new United Football League has announced it will return with a season kick-off on Saturday, March 2024, with a battle between 2023 season champions Arlington Renegades (USFL) and the Birmingham Stallions (XFL).

Russ Brandon, former President and CEO of the XFL, will lead the UFL as President and CEO. Daryl Johnston, former USFL President of Football Operations, will lead football operations.

Orlando’s XFL team, the Orlando Guardians, will not be part of the newly merged league, which features eight teams across two conferences, Birmingham Stallions, Houston Roughnecks, Memphis Showboats, Michigan Panthers, Arlington Renegades, D.C. Defenders, San Antonio Brahmas, and the St. Louis Battlehawks.
