A local university student who made headlines years ago for tracking and posting the whereabouts of jets used by Elon Musk and Russian oligarchs is now under fire from America’s pop princess and unofficial NFL hype squad, Taylor Swift.

University of Central Florida’s 21-year-old Jack Sweeney is back in the spotlight after being sent a cease-and-desist letter from Swift’s attorneys, demanding that he stop tracking and sharing her flight information online. The argument from Swift’s legal team is that Sweeney is putting her in danger by sharing her real-time location, making it easier for stalkers and weirdoes to find her, calling it a “life-or-death matter” in their letter.

Sweeney’s argument is the same from 2022, that the information is publicly available information provided by the Federal Aviation Administration and that he’s not doing anything illegal. He has even placed a 24-hour delay on updates for Musk and Swift’s posts to give them a bit of a head start in case anyone really was using his accounts to follow them around the world like Carmen Sandiego. Musk still banned him from sharing his data on Twitter though.

Sweeney also shares the locations of jets linked to Donald Trump, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg.
