UPDATE: The bear is being delivered to Ocala Forest.

After three days of roughing it in Lake Eola Park, a juvenile bear has been safely boxed up and transported away to live a life with less traffic and paparazzi, in the wilderness.

A young black bear that Mayor Buddy Dyer named “Boo-Boo” showed up in Lake Eola early Sunday morning and managed to avoid traps set out by FWC for the next two days. It would climb up a tree each morning after going out and looking for food in the wee hours of the morning. It slept in a tree by Relax Grill on Sunday, hopped over to a tree behind World of Beer and Osphere on Monday, and spent Tuesday reclining in an oak tree near the farmers market space in the southeastern corner of the park.

Government employees were caught on camera by Bungalower reader Pieter Hanson, assuring a crowd of onlookers that the bear had been caught and was to be transported out of city limits.

The exact destination of the bear was not known at the time of this post.
